The Nisga’a Nation may be small and remote, but we’ve got our own UNBC satellite campus. I’m taking Biology 101 to convert my teaching certificate from Ontario to BC. The course is being taught by a colleague of mine and we’re having a lot of fun. There are 4 students in my class - what a ratio!

The labs are so much fun! watch out! that starch solution is more dangerous than it looks!

Our Wedding

If you haven’t heard yet, Peter and I are engaged! He proposed at the perfect moment during a quiet New Year’s Eve dinner at Octopus Garden in Vancouver. This is one of our favourite sushi restaurants and Peter asked Sada, the suchi chef to ask me in Japanese! It was a lot of fun.

We’ve now set the date for August 9, 2008 in Las Vegas. I’ll keep you posted with ideas we’re bouncing around.

Part of the ‘Orion’ QC The QC Qubit Microchip

On February 13, 2007, my brother Murray’s company D-Wave demonstrated their new Quantum Computer. It is the most powerful computer in existence. Murray is heavily involved with engineering the device’s structure with the dilution fridge, and the connection of the microchip. The UK Register has an excellent and intellectually accessible article that explains the significance of this technology. These two photos show two pars of the computer that have Murray’s latex-gloved fingerprints all over them. :)
